At least 29 people were killed and 11 others injured when a passenger bus skidded off a narrow mountain road and plunged 300 metres down into a river in far west Nepal, police said on Tuesday.
The bus heading for Jumla district from Kalikot district crashed into Tila River in Serewad, some 800-km west of capital Kathmandu, at 11.30 pm last night while negotiating a sharp turn on a narrow and slippery road, they said.
The injured were admitted to local hospitals.
In the mountains of Nepal, bus accidents are frequent as the roads are narrow and have hairpin turns.
On Sunday, a passenger bus veered off the road in central Gulmi district, leaving 13 people dead and 20 injured.
